Stress from off-roading, larger wheels and tires and slow speed turning can strip the gears inside the gear box or the splines at the pitman arm, sacrificing the turning ratio and making high speed driving unsafe. No need to rebuild the box and worry about seals failing , this replacement is a genuine part from the factory. Made to handle daily driving conditions with a maximum factory tire size of 32". If you are running larger wheels and tires and take your vehicle off-road you may want to consider upgrading to an aftermarket steering box and pump.
