The Mopar Tailgate Check Strap for JK Wranglers is a genuine replacement for the rubber strap that has pulled out of the housing or has dried out and snapped. The check strap assembly is designed to keep the tailgate from swinging wide past the hinges. These straps are designed to accommodate factory tailgates with original size tires. Larger wheels and tires mounted on the tailgate or opening on extreme grades could cause factory style units to pull from the base, so an aftermarket solution may be in your future
Important Note: Inspect your tailgate hinges for signs of wear if your original tailgate check needs to be replaced. When used with hinges that have not changed, cases of premature failure have been reported. This is not due to a faulty check arm.
